PPRH has the latest X-Ray, MRI, CT, Radiographic Fluoroscopic, C-Arm Fluoroscopy and ultrasound imaging equipment, as well digital mammography.  Each one is operated by certified, diagnostic imaging specialists dedicated to quickly, safely and efficiently providing results for physicians to diagnose and treat patients.

Services Include:

X-Ray

A radiograph (X-Ray) is a traditional, painless and highly effective medical test that uses radiation to produce images of dense matter within the body. This procedure is commonly used to detect fractures and broken bones as well as abnormalities in the lungs.

MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses magnetic fields and radio wave energy instead of radiation to view internal structures of the body that cannot be seen using conventional X-rays. Our state-of-the-art MRI produces exceptionally vivid and detailed images, which enables our physicians to make accurate diagnoses.

CT

Computed Tomography (CT) uses a series of X-rays to produce detailed cross-section images—or slices—of the body’s internal structures. With an extremely high resolution, our GE Brightspeed CT scanner provides precise details of the entire body within a matter of seconds. This allows our physicians to see clearly and diagnose with more accuracy. It is also crucial in situations where early detection can mean a better chance for recovery.

Radiographic Fluoroscopy

During a Radiographic Fluoroscopic test, contrast solutions are used, where they accumulate in certain tissues before being safely passed through and out of the body. The contrast is visible to special cameras within the Radiographic Flouroscopic Unit that captures images of the tissues to reveal any abnormalities.

C-Arm Fluoroscopy

The C-Arm Fluoroscopy Unit is used in our surgical suites. It performs much like the Radiographic Flouroscopic Unit in that it uses contrast agents that are visible to special cameras within the unit to capture tissue images during surgical procedures. Using this diagnostic test, the surgeon receives near instant images of the part of the body being operated upon, helping ensure proper treatment. C-Arm is also used with pain management procedures.

Mammography

The Lorad M-IV Mammography Unit uses a low-dose X-ray of the breast in order to help physicians check for lumps as early as two years before they can be felt. This mammography unit was designed to offer superior imaging, enhanced operating efficiency and maximum patient comfort. The unit is filmless, so the digital images it produces are readily available to the technologist. Images can then be sent to the radiologist for interpretation and forwarded to other facilities for comparison. Once the images are no longer needed, they are stored permanently in our digital archive.

Ultrasound

Reflected sound waves produce images of the body's internal structures and organs.  The sound waves may be recorded as static or moving in "real time" images.  Ultrasound is a safe alternative to the radiation used in some diagnostic tools.

Diagnostic Imaging Services at PPRH are available 24 hours a day for emergencies and inpatient procedures. For outpatient procedures, the department is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday, 7:00 a.m. - 12 noon (X-ray and CT only). To make an appointment, please contact the Diagnostic Imaging department at 719.687.9999.
