The community of Teller County, Colorado, had longed dreamed of having a hometown hospital. A place for the latest medical care, emergency treatment, routine surgeries, even outpatient procedures—without the 20-mile drive to Colorado Springs. In October of 2007, that dream became a reality when PPRH opened its doors for patient care.

PPRH is the result of years of steadfast effort and the community’s commitment to an innovative working relationship with Brim. The partnership works like this: The hospital association, a non-profit governed by a community board, holds title to the land and building, retaining that control over Woodland Park’s valuable new asset.

At the same time, the community maintains active involvement in the hospital. Community representatives serve on the hospital advisory board, which oversees the quality program and physician credentialing. Hospital association volunteers provide much-needed assistance in such areas as the gift shop and the development of an outdoor fitness trail.

PPRH is a dynamic entity, continually changing and growing in size, service and scope to meet the needs of Teller County. Even with these changes, one thing will remain the same: our commitment to providing compassionate, quality health care right here at home.
