Joseph Boyle, MD. was recently named Emergency Department Physician of the year by the Plains to Peak Emergency Medical Trauma and Advisory Council. Dr. Boyle, who is with Southern Colorado Emergency Specialists, is part of the medical staff at Pikes Peak Regional Hospital and Surgery Center (PPRH). The award was presented during the group’s regional meeting held at PPRH, which included EMS representatives from Teller, El Paso, Lincoln, Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties.
Community Classes
First Aid Training/CPR classes for non-healthcare providers will be held on the last Saturday of each month starting August 28. Classes will run from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and are ideal for day care providers, babysitters and other community members.For healthcare professionals, BLS will be offered the last Monday of each month beginning August 30 from 6 - 9 p.m. Clarity CPR also offers PALS and ACLS twice a year. New Options in Care
New options in care are now available at PPRH. A Special Care Unit has opened, which allows us to care for more medically complex patients such as those with diabetes, heart disease and respiratory problems.
In addition, John Martin, occupational therapist, has joined our physical rehabilitation department. He specializes in treating issues with hands to neck such as carpal tunnel and sports injuries. John is also on the faculty of Colorado State University.
Finally, we are pleased to partner with Centura Health to provide Flight for Life Colorado. The emergency response team now uses the PPRH heli-pad as a remote base. Flight for Life, the nation’s first air medical transport program, has been serving the region for over 37 years. |
